Acts 14

Possible message ideas

I need to explain what a synagogue of the Jews was since it is used so frequently in the Scriptures

I am thinking of preaching and explaining the fact that they spoke boldly in the Lord--there is a lot I could see in the Bible there

1. they spoke about Jesus Christ so much that all wanted them to shut up--there message wasn't about the church or themselves but Him
2. speaking about Jesus caused them a great deal of discomfort but they felt honored to speak in his name and could not be dissuaded from doing so
3. they prayed that they would have boldness to speak instead of praying to get out of the problem or for God to soften hearts.
4. an interesting thought that comes to mind right now is that they didn't even pray that the people would believe but rather that they would have boldness
5. they spoke so much about Jesus that they filled the city of Jerusalem with their doctrine
6. God gave signs and wonders to them as a testimony of his word
7. They spoke and some believed and others rejected--to them the job was to speak and God's job was to convert

Right off the top of my head the other things that I need to preach from this chapter will be to explain Signs and Wonders and why we do not have them in our church currently.

Another message would be how to deal with persecution because sometimes they ran, sometimes they stayed, sometimes they were liberated and sometimes they died.

Another message from the chapter would be how they refused to allow men to honor them as anything more than men

another message would have to be the missionary methods that we find in the chapter.

Now my problem is to figure our what I should do tomorrow
